Varsity Head Coach
Greg Johnson Greg enters into his eighth season as the Head Coach of the Mustang soccer program. Last year Greg helped lead the team to another quarterfinal finish in state. A 1990 graduate of Dobson High School, Greg played collegiately at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix for two years. In 1993 Greg left the warm, sunny weather of Arizona for the more frigid climate of Jacksonville, Illinois to attend MacMurray College. While at MacMurray, Greg was a two-year starter playing in the goal his Junior year and then finishing up his Senior season in the midfield. After hanging up his cleats, Greg began working with the MacMurray Women's soccer team for the 1995 and 1996 seasons. The 1995 team made it to the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Final. In 1997 Greg was hired as the Assistant Women's Coach at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. During the 1997 and 1998 seasons Greg helped lead the Ladyjacks to two Southland Conference Championships. While at SFA, Greg began work on his Masters degree which he completed in December of 1999. In August of 1999 Greg moved back to Phoenix to help train both the Men's and Women's soccer programs at South Mountain Community College. This past summer Greg went back to Texas to work his eighth year at the Texas A&M soccer camp. Texas A&M has been one of the most successful women's programs in the country since the programs inception in 1993 and has given Greg the chance to work with some of the country's finest college coaches. After working as the Assistant Coach for both the Men's and Women's programs at South Mountain Community College for two seasons, Greg was named the Men's Head Coach in November of 2000. In July of 2004, Greg left South Mountain C.C. to become the Assistant Men's Coach at Mesa Community College. Greg has been working with the Arizona Olympic Development Program for over five years now and has worked for the O.D.P. as a regional staff coach in Moscow, Idaho. Greg recently finished his United States Soccer Federation 'B' coaching
license and will be working towards his 'A' very soon. If you
